Aproximadamente 840 mil pessoas foram forçadas a se deslocar internamente, enquanto outras 250 mil tiveram de deixar o país africano, de acordo com Matthew Saltmarsh, porta-voz da organização.
Até agora, o Egito foi a nação que mais recebeu refugiados sudaneses: 110 mil pessoas chegaram lá desde o início dos combates entre o Exército e o grupo paramilitar RSF (Forças de Apoio Rápido), em 15 de abril.
nnnnOutros países vizinhos do Sudão, entre os quais o Chade, Etiópia e Sudão do Sul também receberam refugiados. No início do mês, a ONU alertou que o número de deslocados estava criando uma crise humanitária que poderia se estender para outros países já sobrecarregados de problemas internos.

nnnnNesta sexta, ataques aéreos atingiram Cartum e cidades vizinhas. Os combates também continuam intensos no sudoeste, onde as tropas tentam conquistar a cidade de Niala, capital de Darfur do Sul. A crise provoca escassez de alimentos, água potável, remédios e combustível em todo o país.
nnnn“Atualmente, 25 milhões de pessoas, mais da metade da população do Sudão, precisam de algum tipo de ajuda humanitária e proteção”, disse Saltmarsh, do Acnur. Antes de os conflitos explodirem, um terço dos 45 milhões de habitantes passavam fome e ao menos três milhões de crianças com menos de cinco anos apresentavam quadro de desnutrição severa, segundo a ONU.
