nnnnex-presidenta da República Dilma Rousseff começou a comandar nesta terça-feira (28) o Novo Banco de Desenvolvimento (NDB na sigla em inglês), também conhecido como Banco do Brics. O perfil oficial da instituição financeira no Twitter divulgou as primeiras imagens de Dilma na função de presidenta do banco, que tem sede em Xangai, na China.
nnnnEleita na última sexta-feira (24), Dilma presidirá o NDB até julho de 2025. Ela substitui Marcos Troyjo, ex-secretário especial do antigo Ministério da Economia, que ocupava o posto desde julho de 2020. Estava prevista para o final desta semana uma cerimônia oficial de posse de Dilma, que ocorreria durante a viagem do presidente Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva à China. No entanto, o adiamento da viagem de Lula por problemas de saúde fez a solenidade ser cancelada.
nnnnNo último dia 10, o NDB anunciou a substituição de Troyjo por Dilma. A eleição no Conselho de Administração do banco ocorreu duas semanas mais tarde. Cada país do Brics – Brasil, Rússia, Índia, China e África do Sul – preside o banco por mandatos rotativos de cinco anos.
nnnnSegundo especialistas ouvidos pela Agência Brasil, a nova presidente do Banco do Brics terá oportunidade de ampliar a inserção internacional na instituição, mas enfrentará dois grandes desafios: impulsionar projetos ligados ao meio ambiente e driblar o impacto geopolítico das retaliações ocidentais à Rússia, um dos sócios-fundadores.
nnnnCriado em dezembro de 2014 para ampliar o financiamento para projetos de infraestrutura e de projetos de desenvolvimento sustentável no Brics e em outras economias emergentes, o NDB atualmente tem cerca de US$ 32 bilhões em projetos aprovados. Desse total, cerca de US$ 4 bilhões estão investidos no Brasil, principalmente em projetos de rodovias e portos.
nnnnEm 2021, o Banco do Brics teve a adesão dos seguintes países: Bangladesh, Egito, Emirados Árabes Unidos e Uruguai.
