Ao menos oito pessoas morreram após o soterramento de onze casas provocado pela chuva no bairro Jorge Teixeira, na zona leste de Manaus, na noite deste domingo (12). Quatro vítimas são pessoas adultas e as outras quatro são crianças. Os corpos foram levados para o IML (Instituto Médico Legal) da cidade.

Uma pessoa chegou a ser resgatada com vida, mas não resistiu aos ferimentos. Houve gritaria entre os moradores para pedir socorro médico no momento em que a vítima foi encontrada ainda viva.

Bombeiros, funcionários da prefeitura e voluntários fazem buscas no local a procura de sobreviventes e de corpos. Imagens nas redes sociais mostram moradores do bairro ajudando no resgate no escuro, no meio da lama, dos restos das casas e em clima de comoção.

A Prefeitura de Manaus ativou o comitê de gestão de crise por causa das fortes chuvas na cidade no fim de semana e do desmoronamento que ocorreu na noite de domingo.

O prefeito de Manaus, David Almeida (Avante), e o governador do Amazonas, Wilson Lima (União Brasil), foram ao local para acompanhar os trabalhos de socorro.

Segundo o prefeito, a região onde ocorreu o desmoronamento é de alto risco e há mais 62 áreas nessa mesma situação em Manaus.

O desmoronamento atingiu casas que ficavam na parte de baixo de um barranco. De acordo com a prefeitura, o acumulado de chuva foi de 96 mm nas últimas horas na região em que houve o soterramento.

A Secretaria Municipal de Infraestrutura divulgou nota dizendo que as chuvas intensas e concentradas tornam as encostas de Manaus suscetíveis a deslizamentos.
