Após o presidente Lula declarar que ‘perdeu muita confiança’ no Ministério Público Federal e avisar que o próximo chefe da instituição será ‘uma pessoa que não faça denúncia falsa’, o procurador-geral da República, Augusto Aras, disse, nesta terça-feira, 1, que a PGR tem ‘submissão só às leis’.
Segundo Aras, a PGR atua com ‘respeito às instituições’, ‘para um ambiente de estabilidade nacional’.
A manifestação do procurador ocorreu na abertura dos trabalhos do Supremo Tribunal Federal no segundo semestre. Ele está na reta final de seu segundo mandato – as duas vezes chegou ao cargo pelas mãos do ex-presidente Jair Bolsonaro.
Aras ambiciona mais uma recondução, mas suas chances são remotas. Ele admitiu que suas palavras, nesta tarde, podem ser sua ‘última manifestação’ no Plenário do STF antes de deixar a cadeira.
O procurador fez um desagravo aos ministros da Corte máxima que sofreram ‘agressões’. Fez referência indireta a Alexandre de Moraes, alvo de hostilidades no aeroporto de Roma no último dia 14.
“Temos liberdade de criticar e por vezes discordar, mas sem incorrer em crimes, a exemplo de agressões a autoridades, o que jamais será tolerado pelo Ministério Público”, afirmou.
O procurador-geral aproveitou a deixa do discurso da ministra Rosa Weber – em defesa da democracia e com mais uma referência ao que a magistrada chama de ‘dia da infâmia’ – para ressaltar que, ao lado do Supremo, existe uma PGR que ‘seguirá com espírito pautado no respeito às instituições, às leis e à nação brasileira’.
Aras disse que o Ministério Público reafirma a defesa do Estado Democrático de Direito, ressaltando a ‘visão garantista e republicana’ de sua gestão – ‘aquela que cumpre o devido processo legal e que respeita a independência dos Poderes’.
O segundo mandato de Aras vai até setembro. Na manhã desta terça, 1, Lula deu uma pista sobre o perfil do sucessor que quer na PGR, ‘uma pessoa que não faça denúncia falsa’.
Em sua live semanal no canal oficial do governo, o petista disse que ‘perdeu muita confiança’ na instituição.
Ele apontou sua decepção e críticas para o ex-procurador da República e ex-deputado Deltan Dallagnol, chefe da força-tarefa do MPF na Operação Lava Jato em Curitiba que usou o powerpoint para acusá-lo de comandar o esquema de corrupção instalado na Petrobras entre 2003 e 2014.
