Bill Gates voltou a fazer um alerta sobre os riscos do desenvolvimento sem controle da inteligência artificial. Em entrevista à NBC, o cofundador e ex-CEO da Microsoft afirmou que a tecnologia, se usada por pessoas mal-intencionadas, pode ter consequências capazes de provocar “bilhões de mortes”.
Para Gates, não é suficiente deixar que as próprias empresas de tecnologia, como OpenAI e Anthropic, estabeleçam as regras para o desenvolvimento de seus modelos.
“Ninguém acha que a autorregulação é suficiente”, afirmou.
O empresário defendeu uma participação maior dos governos e dos órgãos reguladores na definição de limites para o setor.
“É preciso que as autoridades de segurança e os políticos estejam envolvidos na discussão sobre proteções e monitoramento”, disse Gates, acrescentando que essas medidas precisam ser “obrigatórias”.

Um dos principais receios do bilionário está relacionado à possibilidade de ferramentas avançadas de inteligência artificial serem utilizadas por pessoas com intenção de provocar danos.

Apesar dos alertas, Gates mantém uma visão otimista sobre o potencial da inteligência artificial no longo prazo.
Durante a entrevista, ele afirmou que a tecnologia poderá ajudar a humanidade a entrar em uma “era da abundância”, mas acredita que antes será necessário atravessar um longo período de adaptação.
