nnnnO ministro disse que a política monetária e a política fiscal são dois braços de um mesmo organismo que precisam trabalhar em harmonia.
nnnnO ministro da Fazenda, Fernando Haddad, afirmou que debater os rumos da política monetária não significa uma afronta às decisões do BC (Banco Central) sobre os juros.
nnnn“Nós temos que compreender que discutir a política monetária não é afrontar a autoridade monetária. Muito pelo contrário”, afirmou Haddad durante evento promovido pelo BC nesta sexta-feira (19).
nnnnEm recado direto ao presidente do BC, Roberto Campos Neto, presente na plateia, o ministro afirmou que costuma ouvir da autoridade monetária que, ao combater uma infecção, é preciso tomar toda a cartela do antibiótico, em referência à necessidade de manter os juros altos para derrubar a inflação.
nnnn“Sempre lembro também a observação que não pode tomar duas cartelas de antibiótico. Tem que tomar a medida certa para que a economia consiga se reajustar do ponto de vista macroeconômico e garantir as condições de crescimento sustentável. Falo isso do ponto de vista fiscal, social e ambiental”, afirmou Haddad.
nnnnO ministro disse também que, quando se discute tecnicamente o momento adequado de iniciar o ciclo de corte de juros, isso não significa fazer pressão para forçar uma queda de juros.
nnnnEle voltou a afirmar que já existe espaço para o início do corte da Selic pelo BC. “Tem espaço para começar um ciclo [de corte dos juros], mas tem uma equipe técnica que está formada e que procuramos respeitar.”
nnnnEle disse ainda que “quando você ouve uma segunda opinião de um médico, você não está contestando a opinião do primeiro, está formando um juízo mais sólido sobre qual o diagnóstico e qual o tratamento prescrever.”
nnnnO ministro acrescentou que a política monetária e a política fiscal são dois braços de um mesmo organismo que precisam trabalhar em harmonia, e que tanto o ministério da Fazenda como o BC trabalham pelo mesmo objetivo, de promover o crescimento econômico com uma taxa de inflação baixa.
nnnn“Posso afirmar, sem medo de ser invasivo, que a Fazenda e o BC estão procurando conversar diuturnamente a relação pessoal mais cordial possível para criar esse novo espaço institucional em que a população tenha confiança que as autoridades vão fazer o seu melhor para entregar seu melhor resultado para a sociedade.”
nnnnO ministro afirmou também que o Brasil tem obrigação de perseguir taxas de crescimento superiores à média mundial, dado o potencial em relação aos recursos naturais, humanos e tecnológicos.
