Uma nova pesquisa da Nottingham Trent University, na Inglaterra, identificou a substância responsável pela progressão do câncer de próstata. Essa descoberta pode ser de grande importância para o desenvolvimento de novas formas de tratamento e prevenção da doença.

“Essa descoberta abriu um caminho significativo para entender outros mecanismos-chave que as células cancerígenas da próstata utilizam para evitar os tratamentos”, revela Adeola Atobatele, um dos responsáveis pelo estudo.

O foco está na identificação da ‘transglutaminase 2’ (TG2), presente em várias células do corpo, que pode levar à disseminação da doença pelo organismo. O estudo aponta para uma mutação dessas células que é produzida em excesso nos casos de câncer de próstata.
