(FOLHAPRESS) – O ministro da Fazenda, Fernando Haddad (PT), voltou a defender nesta quinta-feira (20) a redução da taxa básica de juros (Selic) como forma de estimular a economia brasileira.

Ao ser questionado sobre a expectativa para a próxima reunião do Copom (Comitê de Política Monetária), agendada para os dias 1º e 2 de agosto, Haddad disse que espera “um retorno” do colegiado do BC (Banco Central) em razão do “esforço feito” na área econômica.

“As entregas que foram feitas ao longo do ano não têm precedente, o que o Congresso trabalhou, o que o Judiciário trabalhou para ajudar a arrumar a casa, totalmente bagunçada em 2022. Não me lembro, desde que acompanho economia, de um semestre tão produtivo”, disse Haddad.

“O que se espera é que haja uma reação compatível [do BC]. Do ponto de vista da autoridade monetária, se espera um retorno do esforço que foi feito. Evidentemente, do meu ponto de vista, há algum tempo temos espaço para caminhar para a mesma direção”, completou.

A declaração ocorreu em entrevista a jornalistas no Rio de Janeiro, onde o ministro participou do lançamento de uma agenda com propostas de reformas financeiras para o ciclo 2023-2024.

Essa agenda, segundo o governo, busca promover aprimoramentos regulatórios e aumentar a eficiência dos mercados financeiros, de capitais, seguros, capitalização e previdência complementar aberta. São propostas de caráter microeconômico que estão sendo discutidas com representantes dos respectivos setores.

Na entrevista, Haddad disse que a Reforma Tributária é a “mãe” de todas as reformas e também procurou defender outros projetos do governo, como o arcabouço fiscal.

Para o ministro, a economia tem a oportunidade de “deslanchar” se o país souber fazer o que tem de ser feito.
