nnnnOs humanos já estavam usando drogas alucinógenas na Espanha há cerca de 3.000 anos, revelou uma nova pesquisa publicada na revista científica Scientific Reports nesta quinta-feira (06).
nnnnUma simples mecha de cabelo foi suficiente para fornecer o que se acredita ser a primeira evidência direta do uso de drogas na Europa, ainda no final da Idade do Bronze.
nnnnUm grupo de pesquisadores espanhóis e chilenos analisou os fios de cabelo e detectou neles substâncias alcaloides procedentes de plantas. O estudo, liderado por Elisa Guerra, da Universidade de Valladolid, na Espanha, aponta que essas drogas poderiam ter sido usadas como parte de cerimônias rituais.
nnnnO cabelo estava escondido na caverna de Es Càrritx, na ilha espanhola de Menorca. Descoberta em 1995, a caverna abrigava uma câmara usada como espaço funerário, onde foram encontrados pequenos recipientes cilíndricos de madeira com cabelos que datam de cerca de 2.900 anos.
nnnnO estudo analisou apenas alguns dos fios disponíveis, alguns com até 13 centímetros de comprimento. Encontrar cabelos preservados daquela época no Mediterrâneo ocidental é “extremamente raro”, afirmam os pesquisadores.
