Adiretora-geral do Fundo Monetário Internacional (FMI), Kristalina Georgieva, acredita que a Inteligência Artificial (IA) pode afetar até 40% dos empregos no mundo.

Em um blogpost sobre o assunto, Georgieva afirma que as economias mais avançadas são as que estão mais expostas aos impactos da IA, mas também são as que têm mais oportunidades para aproveitar os benefícios da tecnologia.

Segundo Georgieva, em economias avançadas, a IA pode afetar até 60% dos empregos totais. “Cerca de metade dos empregos expostos podem beneficiar da integração da IA, melhorando a produtividade”, escreveu a diretora-geral do FMI. “Para a outra metade, aplicações de IA podem executar tarefas-chave desempenhadas atualmente por humanos, o que pode reduzir a procura laboral, levando a salários mais baixos e menos contratações”.

Georgieva também destaca que a IA pode ter um impacto significativo na sociedade como um todo. “Até algumas das principais personalidades relacionadas com o desenvolvimento da IA admitem que a tecnologia poderá afetar a sociedade como a conhecemos”, escreveu a diretora-geral do FMI.

Uma dessas pessoas é o cofundador e CEO da OpenAI, Sam Altman, que afirmou recentemente que é “potencialmente assustadora” a perspetiva de uma rápida revolução tecnológica que não dê tempo suficiente para o mercado laboral se adaptar.

Como se preparar para os impactos da IA

Para se preparar para os impactos da IA, Georgieva recomenda que os governos e as empresas adotem medidas para:

  • Investir em educação e treinamento para preparar os trabalhadores para as novas habilidades exigidas pela IA;
  • Desenvolver políticas públicas que promovam a inclusão social e econômica;
  • Trabalhar com as empresas para garantir que os benefícios da IA sejam compartilhados de forma justa.

“Os governos e as empresas precisam trabalhar juntos para garantir que a IA seja usada para o bem de todos”, escreveu Georgieva.
