O número de mortos no terremoto de magnitude 7,4 que atingiu a Colômbia na segunda-feira subiu para pelo menos 132. Mais de 570 pessoas ficaram feridas, segundo o balanço mais recente divulgado pela Associação Colombiana de Capitais (Asocapitales).

O tremor ocorreu às 9h34, no horário de Brasília, e teve epicentro em San José del Palmar, município do departamento de Chocó situado a cerca de 400 quilômetros a oeste de Bogotá. A localização foi informada pelo Serviço Geológico Colombiano e pelo Serviço Geológico dos Estados Unidos.
Pereira, capital do departamento de Risaralda, aparece como a cidade com o maior número de vítimas fatais até o momento. Ao menos 60 mortes foram confirmadas no município, que tem cerca de 490 mil habitantes e fica próximo à área do epicentro.
A dimensão dos danos levou as autoridades locais a adotar medidas de emergência. O prefeito de Pereira, Mauricio Salazar, informou que 18 edifícios foram completamente destruídos e outros 60 sofreram danos parciais.

A pressão sobre a rede de saúde também aumentou após o terremoto. Segundo Salazar, alguns hospitais ficaram sobrecarregados com a chegada de feridos e de pessoas que buscavam atendimento.
Pereira decreta toque de recolher após terremoto
A Prefeitura de Pereira decretou toque de recolher em algumas regiões da cidade após relatos de saques. A restrição começou às 20h de segunda-feira e terminou às 7h desta terça-feira, sempre pelo horário de Brasília.
A medida atingiu o centro de Pereira, o bairro universitário e o distrito de Cuba. Segundo o prefeito, a decisão teve como objetivo proteger estabelecimentos comerciais durante a resposta à emergência.

Horas antes da atualização da Asocapitales, o governo colombiano havia confirmado 111 mortes. O balanço foi apresentado pelo presidente da Colômbia, Abelardo de la Espriella, durante sua primeira declaração pública após o terremoto.
Às 14h30, pelo horário de Brasília, as autoridades contabilizavam 87 feridos, 1.575 casas atingidas e 37 residências completamente destruídas. Também haviam sido identificados 61 prédios em ruínas, 18 unidades de saúde danificadas e prejuízos em 52 estabelecimentos de ensino.
