Foram dois episódios com banhistas na Região Metropolitana de Recife apenas nos últimos dias, sendo que um surfista também foi atacado durante o Carnaval.

nnnnTais ocorrências começaram a ser frequentes na região a partir de 1992. Já são 77 vítimas de ataques de tubarões na costa pernambucana desde então -com 26 mortes.
O jornalista, fotógrafo e surfista Alexandre Gondim relatou à reportagem que os episódios o fizeram recordar o “horror” vivido durante o início dos anos 1990.
“Comecei a surfar em 1984, vivi todo o terror de 1992, os sucessivos ataques. Parecia filme do Spielberg. Só se fala nisso nos grupos, todo mundo meio impactado. Meu sentimento foi como se tivesse voltado no tempo. É complicado demais. Sentimento geral, só se falou nisso hoje”, afirmou.
nnnnA prática do surfe é proibida nas praias da região desde 1999. Cabo de Santo Agostinho, Jaboatão dos Guararapes, Olinda, Paulista e Recife são os municípios onde o esporte foi vetado. Em 2014, nado e mergulho também foram interrompidos nas áreas de risco.
nnnnCONSEQUÊNCIAS PARA O SURFE
nnnnOs ataques de tubarões provocaram uma série de consequências que abalaram o esporte e a indústria voltada para ele no Grande Recife.
nnnn“Em Recife, não pode surfar em canto nenhum, está tudo fechado. A gente teve que surfar cada vez mais longe. Antigamente era em frente de casa, agora é indo de carro. Prejudicou toda a indústria do surfe”,, diz Gondim.
nnnn“O estado não tem mais tantos competidores fortes como era antigamente, todo o mercado em volta do surfe se prejudicou muito. Hoje se vai no shopping e quase não tem [loja] surf wear. Tirou a identidade do surfe, Recife não tem mais. Cada vez que aparece uma situação dessa, afunda ainda mais. Como é que uma criança vai chegar para os pais e falar que quer ser surfista?”, pontuou.
