Pelo menos 40 pessoas morreram vítimas de afogamento desde o dia 18 de junho, em França, anunciou o primeiro-ministro do pais. Sebastien Lecornu lamentou aquilo que diz ser um “flagelo” associado à onda de calor que está a assolar a Europa e, em especial a França, onde se têm registado temperaturas superiores a 40ºC em várias localidades. Hoje, por exemplo, já se registaram – antes das horas de maior calor, 42,8ºC em Nantes.
Segundo o governante, as vítimas são maioritariamente pessoas jovens.
Onda de calor
De acordo com o serviço meteorológico Meteo France, as temperaturas vão permanecer elevadas pelo menos até ao fim de semana, tendo sido emitido um aviso vermelho de onda de calor.
“São esperadas novas temperaturas recorde, incluindo algumas que podem superar todos os recordes anteriores, independentemente da época do ano”, disse a Meteo France.
“A onda de calor é excecionalmente intensa, chegando muito cedo no verão, mas com uma duração ainda incerta”, referiu o serviço meteorológico francês.
A onda de calor já foi comparada à de agosto de 2003, quando as temperaturas mais elevadas em mais de meio século causaram cerca de 15 mil mortes, muitas delas de idosos em apartamentos e lares de idosos sem ar condicionado.
A França introduziu um sistema de alerta após aquela onda de calor.
Noite mais quente de sempre
A noite de segunda para terça-feira foi a mais quente alguma vez registada em França, anunciou o instituto de meteorologia deste país.
O registo é o mais quente desde 1947, ano em que nasceu este instituto e em que, portanto, começou a fazer-se o registo oficial de temperaturas.
O indicador térmico nacional (ITN) das temperaturas mínimas, média de 30 estações de referência, é de 21,6 °C, de acordo com valores provisórios registados esta terça-feira de manhã pelo serviço nacional de previsão meteorológica. O recorde anterior era de 21,4 °C e data de 25 de julho de 2019.
