Quatro pessoas foram submetidas a 100 chibatadas cada diante de dezenas de espectadores em Banda Aceh, capital da província de Aceh, na Indonésia. Duas mulheres e dois homens haviam sido condenados por manter relações sexuais fora do casamento, prática proibida pela legislação islâmica aplicada na região.
A punição ocorreu em 21 de maio, em um parque público da cidade. Vestidos de branco, os condenados receberam os golpes com uma vara de rattan enquanto agentes responsáveis pelo cumprimento da sentença se revezavam durante a execução da pena.

Segundo Muhammad Rizal, chefe da polícia islâmica de Aceh, as duas mulheres trabalhavam como profissionais do sexo e os dois homens eram clientes.
“As mulheres são profissionais do sexo, e os homens são seus clientes”, afirmou à AFP.
Outras cinco pessoas também receberam chibatadas
A sessão pública não se limitou aos quatro condenados. Outras cinco pessoas também foram castigadas no mesmo dia por diferentes violações das regras previstas pela sharia.

As penas variaram de nove a 23 chibatadas. Entre as infrações estavam permanecer em situação considerada de proximidade imprópria com uma pessoa do sexo oposto e consumir bebidas alcoólicas.
Registros da agência indonésia Antara mostram que nove condenados foram submetidos às punições naquele dia por crimes previstos no código islâmico local, entre eles relações sexuais fora do casamento, intimidade entre pessoas não casadas e jogos de azar on-line.

Meses antes, em janeiro, um casal não casado recebeu 140 chibatadas cada após ser condenado por manter relações sexuais e consumir álcool. O episódio foi apontado como uma das punições mais severas registradas na província desde que regras mais rígidas da sharia passaram a ser aplicadas, em 2015.
A Indonésia tem a maior população muçulmana do mundo, mas reconhece oficialmente diferentes religiões e crenças tradicionais. Aceh, porém, mantém regras próprias em razão do regime especial de autonomia concedido à província.
