OK — been using this thing for something like six months now and it’s basically bookmarked at this point, reckon I’d write something up since a lad on another thread asked me last week. I’m in the UK, generally do football and horses, nothing mad, for context.
How I found it was honestly pretty stupid — I could never get my head round what an ew payout actually came to when the place terms changed. I used to just eyeball it and then be surprised. Now I stick my stake in before I place anything, even a straight one-selection punt.
The single bet calculator is the part I open most — type in your stake, the odds and you get the return with no faffing, either odds format. There’s also the bigger stuff — doubles and trebles returns, lucky 15 and lucky 63, a yankee, honestly that’s where I always lose track. If you fancy a poke about, it’s here novig calculator and it’s free with no account nonsense.
The thing that really shifted things for me is the nerdier extras. The implied probability thing that shows what margin’s baked in, and there’s the kelly tool — I run quarter kelly because full kelly is terrifying. Dutching calculator is handy too if I’m spreading across selections.
It’s not perfect mind. Its design is very functional, let’s say — not much flash, which honestly I don’t mind but some will. On my phone it works although the bigger tables are a squeeze. Also there’s no app, it’s a website and that’s it — doesn’t bother me but you asked.
So yeah. Costs nowt, barely any ads, works. If anyone still works out returns on a calculator app, have a look — saved me a load of dumb bets I’d have regretted.
Right — been on this thing for about five months now and I keep coming back, so figured I’d say something since a lad on another thread asked me the other day. I’m in the UK, mostly stick to footie and the horses, nothing mad, for context.
The reason I started using it was genuinely embarrassing — I could never work out what an each way payout actually was with 1/5 odds a place. I’d just guess and get a shock. Now type the odds in before I place anything, even a straight one-selection punt.
The single bet calculator is the one I use most — you drop in your stake, the odds and it shows returns instantly, fractions or decimals. It also handles the fiddly ones — doubles and trebles maths, a lucky 15, patents and yankees, which is where most people I know mess it up. If you want a look, it lives at bet matching calculator and it’s free with no account nonsense.
The thing that actually changed how I bet were the nerdier bits. They’ve got an probability calculator which shows you how much the bookie’s taking, plus a kelly calculator — I use half kelly because full kelly is far too aggressive. Dutching calculator gets used a fair bit for when I’m splitting a race.
Couple of gripes. Its interface feels pretty plain — no polish, looks like it was built by someone who cares more about maths than colours. On mobile it’s fine but the acca grid need a bit of scrolling. And nothing on the app store, it’s a website and that’s it — slight shame but worth saying.
Right, that’s me. Costs nowt, barely any ads, works. If anyone even now does the maths on paper, give it a go — saved me a fair few arguments with the bookie.
