BOA VISTA, RR (FOLHAPRESS) – Um novo terremoto atingiu a região leste do Afeganistão na noite desta terça-feira (horário de Brasília, manhã de quarta na hora local), a mesma porção do país que havia sofrido abalo sísmico que matou mais de 2.000 pessoas no sábado (7).
O terremoto desta terça repetiu a intensidade do sismo anterior, de magnitude 6,3, a 28 km da capital da província de Herat (640 km de Cabul), próxima à fronteira com o Irã, de acordo com o serviço geológico dos EUA.
O desastre atinge o Afeganistão enquanto a região leste mal terminou de contar as vítimas do abalo anterior, que também deixou mais de 9.000 feridos e centenas de edificações danificadas ou destruídas por completo -o terremoto de sábado foi seguido por oito fortes tremores secundários.
“Voltamos para casa e vimos que não havia mais nada. Tudo virou areia”, disse depois do primeiro tremor Nek Mohammad, um dos sobreviventes. “No momento não temos nada. Não temos cobertores, nada. Estamos abandonados.”
Na ocasião do primeiro sismo, o regime do Talibã declarou estado de emergência justamente devido à possibilidade de mais tremores. Organizações militares e de serviços foram direcionadas para priorizar as áreas atingidas pelo terremoto, incluindo operações de resgate, transporte de feridos, preparação de abrigos para desabrigados e entrega de doações de alimentos.
Agências das Nações Unidas, como a Organização Internacional para Migrações, a Organização Mundial da Saúde e agência da ONU para refugiados haviam enviado equipes de emergência no final de semana.
